CBSE Class 12 Boards 2027
The exam most competitive aspirants under-prepare and then regret. Board marks are a hard eligibility gate for NIT and BITS admission, and the syllabus overlaps almost entirely with JEE and NEET — which makes treating them as separate preparation the expensive mistake.

Who can apply
- School enrolment: You must be registered through a CBSE-affiliated school. Private and correspondence candidates apply under a separate category.
- Attendance: Schools generally require 75% attendance to permit a student to sit the board exams. Medical exemptions are considered case by case.
- Passing: You need 33% in each subject, counting theory and practical or internal assessment together.
- Compartment: If you fail one subject you may take a compartment exam later in the year rather than repeating the whole year.
- Improvement: You may reappear the following year to improve your marks. This matters if you missed the 75% needed for NIT eligibility.

There is no counseling process for the boards themselves — but your board percentage is a gate elsewhere. The 75% requirement for NIT, IIIT and GFTI admission catches out a number of students each year who focused entirely on JEE and treated the boards as a formality.
